Travelogue: Sabah – Day 3

24 September 2015

Now that we have get enough rest the night before, we are up for something fun today. But before that, Happy Eid-Adha to all Muslim in the world :)

The first place we decided to go of course is the place we didn’t get to go yesterday. It’s The Upside Down House. Since 3D Museum is located just next to the upside down house, we went to the museum as well.

The Upside Down House and 3D Museum

Entrance fee: Malaysian; Rumah Terbalik (Adult - RM10.60 , Child - RM5.30) , 3D Wonders Museum (Adult - RM24.40 , Child - RM 15.90) , Special Combo (Adult - RM31.80 , Child - RM19.10 [for more details, please visit Tickets & Packages (Rumah Terbalik & 3D Wonders Museum)
Opening hours: Monday - Sunday & Public Holiday; 7.00 am - 7.00 pm

Since this is my first time seeing the upside down house, I am quite excited. I was thinking, “Wow, the one who initiate this house must be very creative and bla bla bla.“ There’s a quota of how many people can enter the house at once. We are lucky we didn’t have to wait for so long to enter the house as we are amongst the earliest to be there.

We were inside the house for more or less 10 minutes. The staffs were there too, to give the explanation about the house and the things inside the house. And of course, to ensure people didn’t take any photos inside the house. Well, there are CCTVs too. I wanted to take one, but since there are quite a number of people there and I’m pretty concerned about the CCTVs capturing me taking the photos, I cancelled my plan. Since the things inside the house are also placed upside down, I’m feeling quite dizzy seeing things above me. Luckily, we spend just a short time in the house.

Next, after about 15 minutes self-photography session outside the house (there are place outside the house where you can take photos with the upside down things), we are ready to have some fun and another self-photography session in the 3D Museum, yay!

The Upside Down Car

The Upside Down House

Well, there’s nothing much to tell about the museum aside from there are lots of corners where you can take pictures to your heart content. And yes, no worry there’s also quota here. Certain amount of people were allowed to enter at once so there’s no rush for you to take pictures and it’s not too crowded. Sounds good, huh? The one thing that is a bit uncomfortable is when you have to bring your shoes/sandal/slippers along with you while you exploring the museum. But still, you will be in a good mood to take lots of good pictures. We spend almost 2 hours in the museum. Now, let’s check out some of the photos we have taken inside the 3D museum.

Jambatan Tamparuli

We headed to the famous Jambatan Tamparuli, next. Unfortunately, the bridge is close for some construction and inspection at that time, so we just take some photos and went to the market near the bridge to buy some fruits and snacks. We bought durian (againnn since we are all durian lovers) and decided to eat it by the beach.

Tanjung Aru Beach

And so, we went to Tanjung Aru Beach to enjoy some of our time there. Tanjung Aru beach is located just next to the KKIA airport. You can watch the airplanes departed and landed while relaxing at the beach. It’s quite an interesting view for me.

A must try coconut shake. RM 6 per glass.

Philippine Market

The last place we went for the day was Philippine Market. It’s located very near to our apartment, so can just take 10 - 15 minutes’ walk there from the apartment. We are using the car since we are already outside at that time. Since it was Eid-Adha, not many shops are open. We bought few Sabah traditional biscuits and snacks, pearl brooches and bracelets and also fridge magnets (wajib!) as a souvenirs before heading back home.
